Trusted Platinum Buyers
Accurate Testing, Fair Offers, Same-Day Payments.
PMR buys platinum jewelry, bullion bars, coins, and scrap based on live spot price. We use an XRF analyzer to test your items on the spot, give you an offer based on the actual platinum content, and pay you the same day. There is no obligation to sell and no minimum quantity.
What We Buy
PMR purchases platinum in all common forms:
Platinum Jewelry: Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants. Art Deco and Edwardian pieces are frequently set in platinum — if you have fine jewelry from these
Platinum Bullion Bars & Coins: PAMP Suisse, Valcambi, and other major mint platinum bars. American Platinum Eagles and other platinum bullion coins.
Platinum Scrap: Casting grain, wire, and industrial platinum.
Dental Platinum: Some older dental alloys contain platinum. If you have dental scrap that may contain platinum, bring it in for XRF testing..
Platinum vs White Gold
The most common point of confusion for platinum sellers is the difference between platinum and white gold. Both are silvery-white metals used in fine jewelry, and they can look nearly identical to the naked eye. However, they are very different metals with different values.
Platinum is denser and heavier than gold. A platinum ring will feel noticeably heavier than a white gold ring of the same size. Platinum is also more expensive per gram and does not require rhodium plating to maintain its white appearance. White gold is a gold alloy, typically 14k or 18k, with other metals added to create a white color, and it contains no platinum.
The XRF analyzer distinguishes between the two instantly and definitively. If you are unsure whether your jewelry is platinum or white gold, bring it in. The test is free and takes seconds. For a deeper look at how these two metals compare in terms of resale value, see our post on platinum vs. white gold.
One important note: do not polish your platinum before bringing it in. Platinum develops a natural patina over time that experienced buyers recognize. Polishing removes this and can reduce the offer on certain pieces.

How We Test Platinum
Every PMR location uses the Niton XRF Analyzer by Thermo Fisher Scientific to determine the precise platinum content of your items. The test is non-destructive, takes seconds, and identifies the exact elemental composition of your piece, including whether it is platinum, white gold, palladium, or another alloy entirely. You see the results, and the offer is based on those numbers.
How the Process Works
Walk in to any PMR location, no appointment needed. Your platinum is tested with the XRF analyzer in a private room in your presence. We present an offer based on the current live platinum spot price and your item’s purity. If you accept, you are paid the same day. Most evaluations take 15 to 30 minutes.

Look for stamps: PLAT, PT, PT950, or PT900 indicates platinum. 14k, 18k, 585, or 750 indicates gold (white or otherwise). If there is no stamp or you are unsure, the XRF test will give you a definitive answer at no charge.
Platinum and gold trade at different prices that fluctuate independently. Historically platinum traded above gold, but that relationship has shifted over time. Check the current live spot prices for both before you come in to have a reference point.
