What We Buy
Palladium is less commonly encountered than gold, silver, or platinum, but if you have it, we buy it.
Palladium Jewelry: Palladium was used as a substitute for platinum in fine jewelry during and after World War II when platinum was restricted for military use. Older rings and settings from the 1940s and 1950s sometimes contain palladium. More recently, palladium has been used as an alternative to white gold in modern fine jewelry due to its lighter weight and natural white color.
Dental Material: Palladium has historically been used in dental alloys. If you have old dental scrap or crowns that may contain palladium, the XRF test will confirm the content.
Palladium Bars and Coins: We purchase palladium bullion bars and coins from major mints. Palladium bullion is less common than gold or silver but has an active buyer market.
Stamps and Hallmarks to Look For: PALLADIUM, PD, PD950, PD900, PD500. The most common purity for palladium jewelry is PD950 (95% palladium).

How We Identify Palladium
Palladium is a silvery-white metal in the platinum group and is visually similar to both platinum and white gold. Without testing, it is essentially impossible to distinguish between the three by appearance alone. Our Niton XRF Analyzer by Thermo Fisher Scientific identifies palladium content precisely and non-destructively in seconds. If you have jewelry or material you suspect may be palladium, bring it in — the test is free.
If you are uncertain whether your item is palladium or platinum, see our sell platinum page for a comparison of the two metals and their respective hallmarks.
How the Process Works
Walk in to any PMR location, no appointment needed. Your platinum is tested with the XRF analyzer in a private room in your presence. We present an offer based on the current live platinum spot price and your item’s purity. If you accept, you are paid the same day. Most evaluations take 15 to 30 minutes.
